I listen to heavy metal 99.9% of the time. The other .1% is a mix of rock and some hip hop.
I like metal is that is crunchy, bouncy, groovy, gallopy, heavy, and headbang-y. Breakdowns are a plus, understandable lyrics not necessary.
Bands with the most play time change often, because I try to keep up with modern metal.
I found myself stuck in a rut about a decade ago, listening to the same bands and getting bored of my playlists, so I started exploring more modern stuff, heavier stuff, and I’m really liking the bands I discover and put on my playlists.
Since last year, I have started making playlists every year to include the songs that I like that year plus 3 years back.
For reference, in no particular order, the bands that I really like currently are, off the top of my head: Lamb of God, Fit for an Autopsy, Whitechapel, Signs of the Swarm, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Slayer, Ozzy Osbourne, Machine Head, Trivium, Cannibal Corpse, Sanguisugabogg, Architects, Electric Callboy, NAILS, Spite, Bodysnatcher, Sylosis, Avatar, Spiritbox, Devildriver, Rammstein, Orbit Culture, Gojira, PeelingFlesh, Party Cannon, Gatecreeper, Judas Priest, Messhugah, Rage Against the Machine, Hatebreed, and Humanitiy’s Last Breath.
