Not sure how this album landed in my ‘recently added’ list, probably from instagram suggested reels. It seems like the band’s been around for a while, but I hadn’t heard of them, so I’m checking out their latest album from 2022.
- Divide: Great intro to the album. Fun riff. OK, the album is categorized as “rock” but this definitely sounds more metal than plain rock. Fry screams in between the melodies, guitar scrapes, chugs, etc. OK, just looked them up on Wikipedia, and they’re a metalcore band (from OH!). Then why is it tagged as rock? Oh well. Anyways, great song.
- Left Behind: Quintessential metalcore song. Melodies and stuff. I lean more towards deathy, thrashy, and groovy stuff, and not as much core unfortunately, so this one’s just a good filler song for me.
- Forgotten: Great start to the song. Monster riff. Oh wow this one’s pretty heavy and got some solid head banging chugs. Great stop and breakdown. Great song. Just found on the wiki page that this one is their third single+video. Good choice.
- Closure: It’s like a back and forth. This one’s on the same side as Left Behind. This could be basically be a pop artist collab with a metal band. Great vocals and the sound engineering on this one put Landon’s vocals directly inside my head with some fun left right sounds at the end. Not my style though.
- Don’t Look Away: OK, back to the monster riffs! It’s got a nice scream in the intro that goes into audio glitch stuff. I like it. This I like. Galloping chugs is why I love metal. Oh! Great breakdown.
- All That I Can Give: ah. Back to the more melodic (quieter, rock-y, core) stuff. I guess it’s ok, but yeah, not as fun as 1, 3, and 5.
- Been Here Before: hmmm this one sounds anthemic. I can see this doing well at concerts. Almost like a punk+core song made for the stage. Video would feature people in the crowd singing along and throwing up their fists. Especially with the high notes on the guitar, and the stops, it’s a good song for happy moshing and concerts. Like their version of pop punk. Wow it even has a slow down section with light airy guitars and rim shots (?) on drums.
- Pretend: Back to heavier riff intros. This feels like they’re getting back to more fun (for me) stuff. It’s got the choruses and melodies with good chugs in between, but still too soft (metalcore roots + pop punk) for my liking.
- Spare Me: YESSS this is what I’ve been waiting for. Oh wait, who’s this lady in the chorus? Sounds good! Great chugs. This one’s got enough dynamic to be an interesting single and/or video. Good one.
- Silence: wut. Acoustic guitar? Good to hear they don’t fuck with those pills anymore (from the lyrics). Oh there’s a build up? It’s slowly building up, that’s interesting. OK, half point, and the electric guitars drop. I guess it’s aight.
- You Get One: Nice drum pattern intro. Oh nice break! This would be a much better crowd pleaser than Been Here Before. Got some good dynamics and distinct sections. The pre-breakdown stop was good, and the breakdown was very good. This one I really like. It’s a fun song.
- Carved: Hmm… back to poppy metalcore I guess.
I’ve put 1, 3, 5, and 11 in my regular 2026 playlist. (technically on the border of being too old for the 2026 playlist since I try to go with the past 3 years, but I guess since this is a new band for me, and I start building the playlist in dec of 2025, I can leave it in there.)
